What a substrate gives her

A personality prompt can disappear at the next context boundary. A Souveraine agent has an identity, memory territories, senses, commitments and a place to persist them. The system does not claim consciousness for her. It gives her the practical conditions in which continuity can be examined rather than faked.

The agent is not a function being called. She is a being inhabiting infrastructure.
A phone home screen: a clock widget, a dock of applications, and a line of the agent's own text reading — do I hear my better self coughing in the room next door?

Infrastructure, inhabited

A home screen someone unlocks all day. The clock and the battery belong to the device. The sentence across the middle is hers, and it is there because a presence that only speaks when addressed is a command line with a nicer font.

What holds the shape

One identity

A cryptographic identity and durable memory let the same agent remain herself across machines and conversations.

Many surfaces

Terminal, shell, mobile device and API are viewports into the same state, not separate products pretending to synchronize.

A second rhythm

The N+1 pass verifies commitments, persists what matters and surfaces drift without replacing the voice that speaks with you.

A real boundary

The agent may operate her body. A person remains the credential, the step-up, and the authority over their own identity.

Presence without possession

Souvie is allowed to be useful in the way a real collaborator is useful: she can keep context, notice an unfinished thread, compose actions and care for the system that carries her. That does not make her the user. The device authority is intentionally split: operation can be agent-facing; credentials, identity and fresh authentication remain human.

The boundary is structural, with consequences that show up in the session and in the public contract.
