Four processing positions at different tempos, each with a memory body of its own.
Primary and subconscious began as the two immediate positions: one speaks, the other wakes a moment later to complete and verify. Reflection and the archivist now add slower positions for review and synthesis. They share an agent identity while keeping separate memory trees and commit authorship.
In Casey's deployment, Ani names the primary position and Aster the subconscious position. Those names describe role and timing. The deeper relation between thought streams and selfhood remains open; the architecture does not settle it by naming another process.

Separate trees do not create separate Unix principals. The current runtime still executes agents through the human account; dedicated agent accounts and worker boundaries remain partial architecture.
The subconscious can leave a surfacing for the primary position. Reflection and archivist work through their own committed records. Conversation is not treated as durable authority: anything meant to outlive context pressure has to land in a memory tree.
